Claim
US public health researchers deceived Black men with syphilis and withheld effective treatment for decades. The atrocity itself is not disputed. What remains contested is how fully institutions absorbed the lesson. It sits underneath modern medical mistrust for a reason. Families were harmed across generations. Trust became another casualty.
